Montreal, Quebec, June 3, 2021 – ENCQOR 5G is proud to announce that it has recently signed a collaborative agreement with Collège de Maisonneuve to offer a new 5G training program to promote knowledge sharing in the 5G field. ENCQOR 5G is an initiative led by a consortium of five anchor partners (CGI, Ciena, Ericsson, IBM and Thales), the provincial governments of Quebec and Ontario and the Canadian government.

“This collaboration strengthens the partnership that ENCQOR 5G has developed over the years with the academic community, and demonstrates that information technology talent is available in Quebec to help local companies develop innovative products. We are proud to collaborate with Collège de Maisonneuve on this initiative and believe that both students and companies will benefit from it,” said Pierre Boucher, Executive Director of ENCQOR 5G.

An Agreement to Promote the Quebec Economy

The main purpose of the collaboration agreement is to offer a new training program in the fields of 5G, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and communication networks, among others. The ENCQOR 5G platform will be used for the training offered at Collège de Maisonneuve, which will promote the development of links between future IT professionals and companies seeking to attract talent in the 5G field.
Starting in September 2021, this new training will enable participants to understand the economic and technological issues surrounding 5G and to master the principles of its operation, deployment, use and security.
This collaboration agreement is the result of a reflection on the need to develop talent in Quebec and strengthen provincial expertise in 5G. ENCQOR 5G and Collège de Maisonneuve are confident that this partnership will be fruitful and promote innovative 5G projects in Quebec.
“Thanks to our association with ENCQOR, Collège de Maisonneuve will have the necessary infrastructure to offer the very first 5G training in the college network. The development of skills around 5G technology will be critical for companies in the IT field, including telecommunications, as well as for those in other sectors that want to propel their growth by relying on new technologies. With this new cutting-edge training program, Collège de Maisonneuve is once again demonstrating its leadership in the IT sector and its desire to be at the forefront of business needs,” said Karine Blondin, Director of Adult Education, Business and Organizations at Collège de Maisonneuve.
