AI FOR 5G SLICING SECURITY

5G (ENCQOR) Technology Development Challenge for SMEs

AI FOR 5G SLICING SECURITY

Challenge Launch Date:

January 24, 2020

Challenge Deadline:

March 30, 2020 (expired)

Challenge Statement:

5G networks used in industrial environments are opening new and exciting perspectives. Those new networks rely on different slices (see attachment) which have the following interesting characteristics:

  • Different 5G network slices for different use cases and different types of data that has to be exchanged
  • Specific Quality of Service (QoS) for each slice
  • Latency levels specific to each slice
  • Automatic creation of network slices suitable to provide optimal services for diverse users and applications

The challenge we propose revolves around the security of those 5G slices.

Project Partner:

Thales Canada Inc.

Timeline:

6 months

Available Funding:

100 000$ CAD

Applicant Type:

SME with less 500 employees registered in Quebec.

Location:

At SME location in Quebec with 5G testing in one of ENCQOR 5G Hubs in MTL or QC.

Project Details:

Demonstrate an autonomous, scalable and resilient system using technologies from 5G and Artificial Intelligence fields to supervise and manage the security of 5G slicing, including but not limited to supervision, detection and mitigation of abnormal behavior in a 5G network slice.

Project Goals/Outcomes:

  • Establish a long partnership between Thales and a future champion of 5G.
  • Deliver a functional proof of concept solution addressing the challenge and its associated documentation.

Applicant Capabilities:

  • Experience in analysis and detection of abnormal behavior on a network.
  • Good understanding of network security monitoring, segmentation and segregation in a 5G infrastructure considering slicing and multi-operators context.
  • Good understanding of failure detection and predictive maintenance under multi operators and rapid re configuration environment.
  • Experience in cybersecurity identity theft / management inclusing but not limited to behavior analysis.
  • Experience in developing data applications executing on the Edge.
  • Previous experience developing and deploying application on public cloud Azure.

Additional Information:

  • Interested SMEs must submit a (max) 10 pages document (in .pdf) with the Statement of interest describing its expertise and capabilities
  • Selected SMEs will be invited for a live demo/presentation with the project owners
  • It is highly recommended that interested SMEs participate to one of the free 5G trainings offered by ENCQOR (https://quebec.encqor.ca/formations/)
